I am mostly interested in the civilian applications of computer science and engineering. A key motivation behind my research is to develop and apply theories to make technologies more useful and effective. I do get excited by the intellectual component of a technology, but I also feel obligated to materialize its benefits and attempt to generate revenues from it.
At present I am working on a networking technology that will improve performance and efficiency of a distributed search engine system. As part of this work I am also developing technologies for fast semantic (meaning) similarity comparison. This work is at the intersection of networking, distributed systems, information retrieval and it uses theories from cognitive science and linguistics. In addition to these areas, my other interests are: Linux operating system kernel, device drivers, performance and software engineering, software architecture, real-time, energy aware, embedded systems and network processing. Some of my past geeky projects can be found here.
