languages: I like to learn languages. Native in Spanish, fluent in English, French, and Italian. Intermediate German and Catalan. Eventually I would like to learn Kakchiquel (a Mayan language spoken mainly in the northwest of Guatemala.)
books, movies, music, and more I enjoy biographies, and books about history and places. These are my favorite things (in no particular order).
books: Einstein, His Life and Universe (Walter Isaacson). Crossing the Threshold of Hope (John Paul II). Les Vrais Penseurs de Notre Temps (Guy Sorman). Intellectuals. And Modern Times: The World from the Twenties to the Nineties (Paul Johnson). Don Camilo(Giovanni Guareschi). Don Quixote (Cervantes). Les Misérables (Victor Hugo). La Divina Commedia (Dante Alighieri). The Devil's Alternative (Frederick Forsyth). Los Nazarenos (Pepe Milla). El Señor Presidente (Miguel Angel Asturias).
movies: Meet the Parents, Men of Honor, Braveheart, Untouchables, Gladiator, The Beauty & the Beast, Il Postino.
music: Def Leppard, Pink Floyd, U2, Police, Journey. Juan Luis Guerra, Alux Nahual. Classical Music, my favorites are Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and Requiem. Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks, and Mesiah. Mozart's The Magic Flute, Requiem, and Piano Concertos 9-17. Beethoven's Fur Elisa, and Eroica.
tv shows: Dr. House, Law & Order, Seinfeld, and Malcom in the Middle.
leisure activities: Reading while listening to music; baking cakes, and cooking. My specialties include stromboli, tiramisu, strawberry tart, creme brulee, and strawberries in zabaglione sauce; and of course my grandma's secret recipe cake—I call it Alice's cake in her honor. But mostly, watching a great soccer match on TV, and enjoying Aggie tennis, seldom miss home matches.
sports: I love sports, and enjoy playing soccer and tennis, and racquetball. Back home in high school we won a national championship in baseball—I used to play shortstop. I have played cricket a couple of times with my friends from India.
I am a loyal fan of: Fightin' Texas Aggies I never missed home games, until sport passes became way too expensive; Gig'em Aggies! Dallas Cowboys, in soccer FC Bayern Munchen and FC Barcelona, the NY Nicks in basketball, and the last but not the least the NY Yankees.
other: During my college years I hung out at St. Mary's Catholic Center, it's a beautiful place. Ideal "to recharge the batteries" and make good friends. I used to coach a kid's soccer team in Bryan called The Geckoes (the kids came out with the name). After a bad first season, the kids won the tournament in the second year.
